My TJ, Trevor, is starting funny.
So whenever I start my jeep after it has sat for a bit (not necessarily cold), it cranks for a long time before starting. Once it starts, it runs like a champ. Could this be a bad fuel pump? Thanks for the help guys!
Its an '01 TJ with a 4.0 and 5 speed

Could be fuel pump - could also be fuel pressure regulator gone bad and allowing the fuel to leak back into the tank. This would make it take a while for the fuel to reach the rail. If this is the case, you can usually turn the key on and wait a few seconds for the pump to do its magic then start it.
Search 'fuel pressure regulator' on this site and see if you can find something that helps you. This thread might: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/wo...crank-1216160/

It's the way of machines when saddled with despicable monikers. If you called me Trevor, I'd act up as well.

I was thinking that but used much restraint to keep from saying it. :-)

I had the same issue with my 98, try cycling the key on/off a couple times, then starting it. Mine would almost always start right up after that. I put a new regulator on and have had no issues since.

You'd catch hell down here where I live if you ever called your Jeep "Trevor" in public... You could get by with "Susie" or "Ginny" or something like that - but Trevor's going to get you some strange looks and non-stop ribbing...
To each his own man...
