I went flat with a 1.25" BL and the 33engineering trans mount. No hammer needed. I may end up dropping it an inch for other reasons though.

What reasons, if I may ask? I've actually saved the plans from your write-up and plan on tackling that project over the Christmas break.

I would like to mount my air tank under there and I just need a tiny bit more room. I also have issues with my drive line angles after the lift went on. Had to get my drive shaft rebuilt 2 times in 4 months. Hopefully its fixed now with some additional grinding by Tom Woods. But I am sure a little less angle wouldn't hurt. Also I would like to recess my bolt heads and by dropping it an inch I can do that easily while not having to switch to a flat head bolt that takes a hex wrench. It will move my engine skid a little lower so I may be able to use a Fumoto drain valve I got but couldn't because of clearance. Finally it may help a tiny bit with the heat from the floor boards. They get really hot in the summer.

After the lift I have a little over 20" of belly pan clearance so I dont mind losing 1" as much as I did when I was stock.

The 33 Engineering one has been my desired belly up, esp since I have the 1.25" BL. But this homebrew may have potential. With a stock muffler, if you set this 3/4 to 1" lower from the frame I wonder if it would keep it from hanging up...

Keep moving forward. But keep an eye on history, for if you don't, you are doomed to repeat it.

What if the skid was the same design as the one that RE makes for their LA kits and you angled the edges slighty so that it will slide over things? You could also cut out an area for the driveshafts to go through couldn't you?

Nice work!! And yes, add the bracing even with a 3/8" plate. A buddy did one and warped it, had to make another, he added the bracing and it's fine.

I'm reviving this old thread as I'm intrigued at the idea of a flat skid with just a 1.25" bl (plus little body pounding ).

I do not see how the transfercase is mounted to the new plate. Does anyone else see how it is done, or can the OP perhaps throw a few more lines on how the mount was achieved??

Cheers!
