My First Offroad Trip
Yesterday I went to the Cliff's Insane Terrain at Marsailles, IL. Let me tell you...There's a big difference between reading on forums about offroading and actually getting out and doing it. I learned so much! I performed my first recovery operations of two other Jeeps. I also managed not to break anything or get stuck.
MY buddy in an old XJ lost a mirror and a stock Sahara lost a sway bar link up front. And we got Dirty! Here's the Link By the way if you go...we took the #1 trail which was for stock vehicles and our friend with a modified CJ with lockers and a winch had to pull himself and others out a few times. Green Trail my A$$! Be careful if you go mudding here and bring friends! We only got a third of the way on trail 1 and it took hours to get there and back. We had a great time!

Cliff's is pretty much jsut slick/muddy especially if you stay to the outside trails.
Keep in mind, the farther inside the park you go ('carnage', for example), you will definatly cause some body damage. Not a bad place.

Cliff's is pretty cool. I like it because it is only an hour or so from my house. I am going in two weeks. The mud at Cliffs causes some very slick trail conditions.

Hey..I went there the 2nd week they opened. Boy when I was there the trails were very tight. It's very muddy & slick forsure. I'm sure time has passed and now the trails are much wider. We went very deep into the trails & some were not even carved into a trail yet. We also went to the creek I was happy there because there was a good amount of rockbed to crawl over. It's only about 50mins from where I live. In-time I'll go there to play but I prefer to play in the BadLands in Attica, Indiana. I love the rocks thats my kind of wheeling. I also love trail riding a very good way to learn how to move ya jeep around the trees, climb steep hills, decend from steep hills, driving in the creek & more.
If you wanna try the Badlands...I'm heading out there April 2nd on a Saturday. I'm asking around cuz, I like to meet other Jeepers around the area. If you like to go..feel free to contact me at IGotADisneyJeep@Aol.Com. All jeeps are welcome to join lifted or stock. If you do go make sure you have tow hooks on the front & rear of your rig. I hope I'll meet a few of you from this board. This is a great forum. Here is a pic of My Jeep so, you will know how it looks like. I'm Michael by the way. [IMG] [/IMG] |
