Tires all remounted. Now they are on correct... outboard side on the outside...

Tummy Tuck

Working on the tummy tuck this week. I am going to be prepping and painting the crossmember and seeing if it can be installed without the body lift. If it works that will finish off my lift with 1/4" steel transfer case with 20" of Clearance under the skid. It will also finish off the ridiculous spending with rear Currie Adjustable Control arms and Tom Woods drive shaft.

I am also prepping the tub for herculiner this weekend. I am going to see if I can knock it out in two days, I think it will transform the interior!

Wow just read the whole build and really like it a lot. You may want to look into a Ford 8.8 for your rear axle. It's stronger then your D44 w/ 4.10 and it has disk breaks, so that should help with your stopping, not to hard to put in and you can get them arond $350-400.

Herculiner Tubliner

This took a little more time than expected because I had one torx bolt on the roll cage that did not want to budge. But finally I got it out today with a breaker bar and a 3/8" torx bit.

Took plenty of time to prep the whole bed; I sanded most of it with a random orbital sander and hand sanded anything I could not get with the electric sander. This took quite a bit of time, but the final product depends on it.

Because I had to deploy with the Coast Guard the project was delayed about a week until I could get home, pull the roll bar off and do the final prep.

Following the instructions I did two coats of the herculiner and still have some left over...

I will post a few more pictures once the seats are back in and I get another coat of black paint on the side rails. I think it looks great now. After next weeks deployment I may pull the seats back out to put the UV protection layer on there. I still have some of the liner left I may use the remaining paint to get up in near the dash where I taped off making it all black.

What do you think of this bumper?

BPI Fab made this custom for as an example of a stubby bumper they could put together. I really like the way the winch sits inside the bumper and the winch guard (brush guard) is not too tall. I am hoping Tim will put a few tabs on the guard so I can mount some KC Rally lights on there. The bumper comes either as bare steel or powdercoated. I am debating going with the bare steel and rattle can painting it so anytime I need a touch up it is easy.

Let me know what you think!

Great build! Does the floor get hot with just the Herculiner??? Is it any louder without the carpet?

Not sure... I just painted the herculiner this afternoon. I will let you know what the difference is, in all honesty... your driving a wrangler, does sound make a difference...

I did remove (sand off) old decals saying that the carpet was made for insulation, but we will see... driving around in the Florida Keys for two days without any carpet I did not "burn myself", so we will see if the floor/tunnel really heats up.

Well, back from another deployment with the Coast Guard and I have a few more projects started this month. First, I am continuing on my tummy tuck project with great progress. I have finally got the aluminum skid fabricated and just need to smooth out the edges and paint it (yellow of course) and add one more coat of paint to the frame (black) before mounting. In addition I am still waiting on a few parts that are taking quite a while to complete the tummy tuck (extended driveshaft and adjustable control arms).

My other project for this month is to tint all my windows. I had the glass windows on my hardtop and doors all tinted professionally and I plan on doing the soft top myself with a static cling product.

Additional small projects include mounting accessories (hi-lift jack and mag light holder). I still need to remount my amplifiers and finish the final wiring on my subwoofers now that the bed liner is fully cured. I also purchased a remote located CB radio that I will need to find space for to connect to the the firestick antenna that is already mounted on the tire carrier.

Here are some promised pics of the jeep all tinted out and my newest project.

The tint is 20% for the hardtop and doors. The windshield has a UV tint on it to give it a little less glare and protect the interior while my jeep is parked outside in the sun for weeks in South Florida while I am deployed.

The tummy tuck project is progressing. I have the frame (33 Engineering) and a custom aluminum skid plate that will bolt to the bottom with machine screws. The best part of this is the skid can be easily removed for maintenance. In the future I think I will get a stainless skid plate made that is more heavy duty and it will not be painted (so I wont care about scratches).

Nice looking jeep guy, I saw it parked over at Westmarine today (or else a twin!). Did you put something on the herculiner? I was surprised by how glossy it looked.

Thanks... I was parked over there this morning trying to get some bottom paint for my boat (what West Marine has absolutly no bottom paint... for a week).

No, the Herculiner is only 3 weeks old and my hardtop with UV window tint has been on the past two weeks... but I plan on putting the UV protectant on it this week while I am touching up a few missed spots.

Where did you get this? I thought that they went out of business?
