My Bedlined Interior Pics

I finally got a new computer so I can no unveil my bedlined interior!

Took about two days to do: day 1 to tear down the interior, day 2 to prep and lay the bedliner down. I wish I had a compressor and air gun so I could have sprayed it on for a more uniform look, but I think it turned out pretty darn good rolled/brushed on.

I used the cheaper Duplicolor "Truck Bed Coating Kit" that comes with a small brush, a small roller, a pan for the coating, a scuff pad, and more than enough coating for 5+ coats in my TJ.

Basically I took the scuff pad and used what I could of it, but got some 120 grit sandpaper for metal and went to work. Some said that the Duplicolor brand doesn't stick very well, but I found that after some good prep work and cleaning, it is just fine. After having it on for over two months now, I have NO chips, NO peeling, NO fading of color. This stuff rocks.

The Stuff:

The Tear Down:
**NOTE: The four bolts that hold the front pivot brackets for the rear seat are tricky ... don't break them off like I did. It seems that the nuts on the underside of the tub are NOT welded on. All four of mine snapped.**

The Prepping:

After 2 Coats:

Continued ....

Done:

I also used this time with the center console out to put it my leather shift boot off of the later TJs:

Like I said, it turned out great as long as you do your prep work right. Got the whole coating kit from my local Advance Auto for about $55.

I've got that under 'things to do once I find work." Let us know how it holds up.

P.S.

Nice little upgrade with the shifter boot. I went from a 97 to an 05, and the boots on the newer Jeeps are much nicer.

Looks good. I am getting mine sprayed on in a month What did you do about the snapped bolts? I snapped one side then decided to leave the other alone even though it had newer bolts on it. I bolted mine to the tub sidewall and one bolt in the floor. I just got rid of the whole shifter console and LOVE the look!

Looks good. As always with painting/coating whatever...prep work is critical.

I like the coatings from durabak, herculiner, etc, but I think a rubber floor would be pretty awesome. Has anyone ever thought about using rubber undercoating spray on the floor? I've only used it on little things...I'm guessing it wouldn't really stick in high-traffic areas.

I forget the size of the socket I used, but I found the size that fits the nuts that are fastened to the bottom of the tub and put a breaker bar on it. They snapped right off leaving me with 4 clean holes, which I filled with bolts from Lowe's.

Do not I repeat DO NOT use the rubberized undercoating unless you want to do a lot of prep work just to go back and remove all of the rubber and buy an actual bedliner. I did this in mine about a year ago and I am still trying to remove it to prep it for the Herc.

Hey guys thanks for the kind words ... I really like how it turned out.

I really wish I could have sprayed it on though .. as you can see in some of the pics, the "texture" is some spots got clumped together ... it doesn't look horrible, but still.

you'll BARELY use the roller brush which gives you a much better textured look ... it just doesn't fit in most places in the tj ... like between the ribs in the back i had to brush that all on. kind of disappointing but it got the job done.

now i just have to replace all 4 bolts that hold those front brackets on for the rear seat and one bolt that holds down the driver's seat.

i'm kind of liking running rear-seatless right now tho.

Just a thougth here. Did you use bolts that are strong enough to not break off in an accident? Not trying to call you out or anything. just wanted to throw it out there.
