My 97 SLOW build up!

so I have had my Jeep since the beginning of Feb. and decided that it was time to do a build thread of my own, I love reading everyones, so here is mine!

1997 Wrangler 2.5L 5spd
2" suspension Lift
3" BL
134,xxx
31" BF Goodwrinch A/T T/A

I am a broke college student, so my build is a slow project because of money issues.

So here it is the when I bought it.

I cleaned it up and painted the fender flares and undercarriage

It had a leaky rear dif when I bought it, so I cleaned it up and changed the gasket and got it all painted so its looking good again

I had a wreck on July 23rd, a guy stopped in the middle of a turn, and I hit him because I looked to make sure nothing was coming, and couldn't get a hold of the brake and clutch fast enough:

I straightened the tube, and can't even tell it was wrecked though

I changed everything b/c I had a miss in the #1 cylinder, and it would not go away, I changed the wires, plugs, coil, dist. cap/rotor buttom, still had a miss. so I pulled the head to check the gasket, it had a crack in it, so I ordered a new head and runs great now!

my old head:

my new one on the jeep:

I got some clevis pins for some TEMPORARY discos, I will be getting/ fabbing some good ones in the near future.

I drove to Evansville, IN, about 2 hours away to pick up a Warn x8000I winch, winch plate, 2 Warn D-Ring shackles, a Warn hitch received shackle, and 2 tow ropes... $300! works great! oh, and look at the bottom tube, can't really tell it was wrecked

When I bought my Jeep, it did not have power steering, well one day on the way home my worm gear blew out of my gear box, so I decided it was time to put power steering on it, I purchased everything except for the gear box from someone on here for $65 shipped, and I pulled a gearbox from a 94 cherokee sport for $22, and put it on there, and wahla, power steering

Ditch the 3" BL or cut it down at a 1"...way too much

Find ya some flares, cut down the BL and use smaller bolts, you can find some cheap bumpers for F/R, and try to clean up some of that rust underneath

yea, the rust is all surface rust, and I'm thinking this week i am going to be hitting it with the sander and some paint, as far as the lift, I'm putting 33's on it in the spring, so idk if I want to cut it down too much. It has bushwacker flares on it currently, but I'm considering pocket flares as well. I am looking into getting some xrc bumpers, but it depends on money at the moment.

3" of lift is enough for 33's with no trimming to the fender wells. That size of BL is unsafe and ugly. Got my jeep with one and hated it before I swapped it out for a 1" BL and the RE lift

i was just giving you a hard time

basically being a smartass and making fun of your 3"BL and running boards. but hey atleast you have a Jeep and have plenty of time to do the right mods to make it yours.

good luck with your neverending build.
