my 2003 Tj Sport (pics, as requested) :D

My apologies for the pic quality. It was dusk when I shot these.

Light Khaki Metallic (wife not included)

Shifter (notice 4 speed auto)

The source of controversy: HVAC controls + radio

Notice the new pattern.

The new soundbar.

Well, here we go. I don't have the window sticker on me, but I'll do my best.
2003 Sport
30" Canyons
4 speed auto
dana 44
rear disc brakes
posi rear
a/c
tinted soft windows

Sticker was $24,085. I paid about $500-750 under that. My problem was the Eclipse GT that I traded in was worth nothing at all. It was a 2000 with 35K on the clock, but Mitsu does so much easy financing that no one wants them. I put $ down AND paid extra each month, but I was still upside down by $3K.
I just bit the bullet and went with my heart (Jeep). Right now, I'm stuck selling headers and 18" wheels.

Compared to my 2002 Sahara, I notice several 2003 changes in your photos.

The roll bar padding seems a better fit where the pieces join. 02 covers didn't meet very well and had exposed zipper ends.

The sound bar doesn't look like a single bar anymore, but a separate pod on each side. Or is that an illusion from the angle of the photo?

Accessory switches laid out differently and the cigarette lighter now has a second 'accessory outlet' plug next to it.

A more traditional lever release to pull the front seat forward. The 02 has a nylon loop that you have to *yank* to release the seat.

Airbag switch between the gearshift and dash replaced with a small coin holder.

Radio much more rounded on the corners--possibly to make aftermarket replacement more inconvenient.

I like the new fabric. The 02 models below the Sahara had a pretty funky fabric pattern. Not that it matterns if you are like me and immediately put seat covers on to protect them.

I *really* like the new kaki green color!

Looks great and outstanding pics ! Not to be a pain in the arse(but that's what I do 'round here ), but could you post a pic of the plastic trim that goes up the windshield frame? It's supposed to be the new additon to get the mandatory side impact seal of '03 approval and I'm curious at how it looks.

Roll bar padding is 100% better than my 99.
Sound bar is indeed two pieces: 1 speaker, 1 light.
No cig lighter (only in smoker pkg) 2 outlets though
Yep, much much better way of tipping the seat.
No airbag defeat switch at all! As part of govt standards, you cannot have a defeat switch. No exceptions. You are right on the coin holder. It replaced the old switch.
Radio is definitely more rounded. I'm looking into an Alpine already.
The fabric is very nice. Nice pattern too.
The color is very much gray, inside and out. For some reason, they call it khaki.

Check out the overdrive switch!

I'll try to get that in the morning. It's plastic the entire way around. The jury is still out on that one.

Hi dan58,
The Eclipse is a nice car, but you’ll be please to know you actually gained a few good thins with the TJ. More ground clearance and a tighter turning radius. I own an 1998 Eclipse GS – wonderful car, wouldn’t trade it in for any other car but I know it dose have a few down sides compared to the TJ. Hopefully someday I’ll own both a TJ and my Eclipse

I like the idea of the extra accesory plug. It's good for GPS and cell phone. I like the color too-my 2002 Sport is also the "light metallic khaki clear coat" (or what I tell everyone else-"tan"). Oh yea...your wife's (and sis) a hottie too.

Nice Jeep. I hope you take this the right way. Your wife is beautiful. Little sis is easy on the eyes, too. Just sayin'.
