mounting NP231 to 545RFE and need advice

So my np231 Tcase, which i thought would bolt right up to the 545rfe I am using for my hemi conversions lines up but after tightening down bolts I have a 1/4 gap. The input shaft engages fine and the bolt pattern is correct I think the input retainer seal is the problem and need more taper. Anyone know for sure? see image below.

STOP........ there are a couple different output shafts on the 545rfe. hopefully you didnt wrench it down too tight.. you can screw up alot of internal stuff..... you can use the 231.... however you have 2 choices, cut down the output shaft on the transmission or call advance adapters and get a 1/2" spacer plate and new longer case studs. i had to run the spacer when i added the atlas due to the 545rfe output shaft length on my trans, it came from a Ram for reference.

I've never been poor, only broke. Poor is a state of mind. Broke is a condition brought on by Jeep ownership and a heavy right foot.

I did notice the length difference and I actually trimmed down the rear output shaft of the trans 16mm.

old shaft sat in 9mm
new shaft protruded 7mm

After I finished and I could not mount easily I noticed my np231 female end seems to have tons of room unless the shaft tapers. Does the opening not run all the way into the case? It does measure much deeper than the length of the output shaft. I kinda feel stuped for spending 2 hours grinding mine down but its clean at least

Using a steel rule I checked around the trans output shaft and unless it tapers up or the rear seal is smaller I cant find the interference.

But I could be hallucinating from frustration.
GP what was your output shaft hitting?

I can almost see a ring around the seal retainer where i first tried to tighten it up and the seal retainer ring was too larger.

GP nice builds by the way and my trans is also suppose to be from an 05 ram 1500
