Motor Mount Body Lift Question:

Im not entirely sure about a few things.

If you put a body lift (lets say 1") and add a 3.5 in suspension lift, what is the reason for the Motor mount lift? Im under the impression that it has something to do with being able to use a greater clearance skid plate and/or lifting the engine back up to the body where it used to be before the 1" body lift.

If this is true, and you arent really worried about a different skid plate and just want your 3.5 inch lift, then do you even need a body/motor lift?

I know thats a lot and its confusing cause I dont really know how to say it..but help out!

Chris

It's to help with drivetrain angle issues. Lifting the engine helps take a little angle out of the drivetrain.

The motor mount lift isn't required with the body lift, but it is suggested, especially with that 3.5" lift, for a few reasons.

1. You don't have to lower the radiator shroud, instead you will raise the motor an inch and it will match the height of the shroud. You also gain an inch in ground to engine clearance.

2. It helps correct the angle in the t-case linkage that the body lift causes.

3. Most importantly, it helps correct driveline angles after a suspension lift is installed. With up to ~2" of lift, it will most likely eliminate any vibes, if there were any to begin with. Anything above 2" really needs a SYE/CV or a t-case drop, regardless of a MML or not. The MML will help, but won't cure the vibes.

The MML also allows a tummy tuck (certain vendors require a MML in order for a TT to work).

So what you are saying is that If I get a 3.5 inch SUSPENSION lift and a SYE I wont have to other with the body/motor mount lift?

The body lift has nothing to do with driveline angles. You can install the body lift for extra wheel well clearance, but that is all that it provides. The motor mount lift can be installed without the body lift too, it is just that the BL/MML is a popular combination.

No matter what size suspension lift you get, the SYE/CV will correct all driveline vibrations... regardless of a BL/MML.

MORE is a good motor mount lift. I have a Daystar MML for over a year, and notice no vibrations over stock motor mounts. As for body lifts, I would look into either the Performance Accessories 1" body lift or the JKS 1.25" body lift. Both are top notch body lifts.

Cool man, Ill look into it. One more thing! You see those ads for polyeurathane (SP?) suspension part replacements?? What is that for? Does that replace those parts that you have to grease?

Daystar is polyurethane, but so far so good on my motor mounts.

As for replacing the suspension parts with it, not a good idea. Squeaks and trouble is all you're asking for if you do that.
