It's always easy to suggest something when you're not the one that has to do it... but with that in mind: why do this at all, right now? If you know that you're going to go to a true tummy tuck in the future, a.ni bit of clearance gained now is effort wasted... why not save those resources for later, or redirect them into something that you've got no plans to change? Please understand that I'm not attempting to be overly critical, here... but as you've already stated that funding isn't unlimited (true for us all) I can't see the logic unless your tummy tuck is something to do in the far-distant future. At that point it makes sense to work towards the goal with incremental progress... but if you're thinking of doing the tummy tuck in the next year or so, I think it'd make more sense to direct your efforts/resources into other modifications... ideally ones that would improve your performance and support the tucked skid.
It's just a thought... and so is the Modular system from Savvy. I'd go that route myself if I hadn't caught the fabrication bug.
