ive had my mirror movers from q-tek on for a while now but i still have the stock mounting hardware on my doors. if i take that hardware off i will have holes in that upper hinge of both doors. i wanted to see what everyone else does w/ the unused holes. thanks

Screwed the bolts back in the holes.

Yes, there will be holes there.

When I was running mirrors on relocation brackets I just left the holes there. They never bothered me.

You could get some new bolts to fill the holes. The stock bolts have a tapered head so they do not screw in flush.

I use the mirror movers from SunPerformance... ('06)... Note the mirror movers differ, pre '03 (old style)... If you have the old style... I would assume you just pull the hardware off the upper hinge and do what I did (below).

What I did with the holes left on the upper door hinge was this... If you just put the screws back in, you will notice that they have a countersink head... Thus they will stick out a little... I used two washers to cover that space. For each screw, I crazy glued two washers together then painted it the color of my TJ (black)... This enabled the countersink head of the screw to "flush up".

The only problem then was with the one screw/washer combo coming into contact with the mirror when you open the door... You can get adjustable door straps so the door doesn't open as much or opens just before touching... I use the mechanical billet AL/Stainless assemby Quadratec (Armadillo) sells... They, IMO, look kinda neat...

Hope this help... IMO, it looks real clean and keeps the tapped holes in the upper hinge servicable/usable.

thanks for the posts, i guess i will get out my super glue, washers and touchup paint and go at them. i knew i wouldn't be satisfied just leaving the holes there but i wasn't sure if there was some trick i didn't know about to fill them in. thanks again for the info.

It would be 10x easier to just get new screws that you can screw in flush.

Sometimes it is easier said than done

That might be true... Torx heads with a button head are hard to find at your local hardware... Tried to match up the threads either... I assume they are fine threaded, SAE... Or something??? I couldn't easily do it with a screw I liked...

Then again my Congo cage uses button head, hex hardware and it doesn't look bad. On the upper door hinges, you probably want things to blend in...?

Anyway... The washers were just laying around and it seemed like an easy and cheap workaround... That way you don't misplace the OEM tapered/countersink screws if you ever want to go back to mirrors on doors...

I don't think they are fine thread. I "liberated" some stainless steel button head screws from my old job and I think they were regular "coarse" threads. They were metric if I recall correctly.......

Thanks!

All I could "liberate" from my job was the washers... Hence the convulated, yet practical solution...

Crazy glue and paint... I supplied (work's paint doesn't match)...

I do have standards!

If you have some binoculars, maybe you can tell what the holes look like in this one...

Hope this helps ;-)
