Mirror mounts, movers, and after markets- help!!!

I want to take off my doors on my 02 TJ but i need to keep my mirrors on to avoid a beating by cops. were are good places to look for these mirror accessories locally and not getting ripped off on ebay. also i wanted to get some military style round ones with extend-able arms but i refuse to drill nary a hole in my lovely jeep. i'm open to any info you guys have. jeep dealerships all lie about the existence of mirror moving goodies.

I don't know about extending models but check out a local motorcycle dealership. Lots of guys use Harley style mirrors. Just pass it through the upper door hinge bracket and bolt it tight. I have mirror movers and don't care for them too much because when there is a window on my door I can't see the passenger mirror.

The round mirror pics that you posted are gay. IMHO. Run with some CJ mirrors. They are cheap and you can find a replacement should you jack one up on a tree easy. Here is a pic of them on my jeep. I also like that they mount up higher than stock mirrors. Easier to see out of too. Plus. I have had a lot of motorcycles. That was one of the biggest downfalls is that the mirrors were to small to view anything out of. Just a simple mans thinking.

I just bought another set of mirrors for my Element doors, because like Cheesycook, I dont like the location of the mirrors in the relocation bracket.
The passenger side is very hard to see.

You can pick a set of mirrors up pretty reasonably online.

did you have to drill? i like the way they look but i'm trying to avoid the drill. i saw those on ebay.

I'll have to take a closer look when I get home. They were on the jeep when I bought it. I'm 95% sure that you do not have to drill. I'll make a post on this later tonight.

The base mounts to the windshield hinge bracket using existing holes and then the mirrors goes on and off with a threaded knob. Very simple and easy. They vibrate at highway speeds, making it a little more difficult to see out of, but I'm pretty sure that's the nature of the beast with any non-OEM style of mirror.

I've tried the 3 major ones(mirror relocations, safari mirrors, and Jeepit brackets), because the 1st two options the mirrors vibrated like crazy. The Jeepit brackets are the best, so I took my safari mirrors and mounted them on the jeepit brackets, and there are absolutely no vibes. And I agree with the guy above about those little round mirrors, you can't see squat!

I like this idea. Do the CJ mirrors bolt right up? If so, I'll stop searching for relocation brackets that I like...

If I have time tonight I'll take off a mirror and snap a picture and post it tomorrow. Because this is my first (newer) jeep I can't tell you for sure if there are holes there to begin with. You can look at your jeep that doesn't have the cj mirrors on it and see if there are any threads in that part where they mount. I do know that I moved one of them and they are in there with a bolt that I took out with an alan wrench. They were not screwed into there the female side was already part of the jeep. Check your jeep out and see if you have 2 holes where you could run a bolt into there. I'm guessing you do and if so then you are in there. You just hold the mirror up there to mount it and run the 2 bolts not screws into the already existing female part that is on the jeep. Because my jeep came with them I can't tell you what it took for him to mount them but I can tell you that it looks like the threads were already there.

it is, only thing the write up doesn't say is that you have to drill one end of the mirror mount so that they bolt will fit through. very easy though, it's just cheap aluminum

Another good vote for the Jeepit.com stuff

here is my set up, i love it! Dont bounce or rattle, they store easy and go on quick
i start with these "arms" that came from JeepIt.com
i found my mirrors here http://www.rpminnovations.com/convex-h.htm
i got two large convex ones and replaced the glass to flat on the drivers side locally, it was cheep and fast, hardest part was getting the glass out and new glass in. but in the end easy enough

i like this site over local options because it has much larger round mirrors, i got 7.5" black ones and really like them, the previous season i had 5" ones and they seem a bit small more often than not.
if i could change one thing i would and am working on some quick hand tightening version of the bolt. I always have tools with me, but hey, why not make it easier?

i also just got to see these American Outlaw Mirrorsin person on a friends jeep, very clean looking, nice and compact to the body, only down side i see right off the bat is i like round mirrors and tat i got to choose my own with the jeepit brand
