I want to like them.... I think the fact that they are bolt on, easy to install, and give awesome clearance is a great value to the jeeping community, but I just cant get over how they look. I am not even into aesthetics on jeeps, they are meant to crawl and get banged up, but damn there are just some things that stick out like a sore thumb!

The arched look absolutely hideous, and even the overline looks alien on a jeep.

If only the metalcloaks looked like the rokmen highline tube fenders I think their orders would double, but then they probably couldn't keep up with all the orders. Maybe they made them hideous intentionally.

Version 2.0 of metalcloak tube fenders should work on bringing sexy back.

how do flat highline tube fenders look more factory than the overlines? I think it's the opposite way around. The tubes need some bends in them to kinda match the stock flares. Compare a head on shot of flat tube fenders with a flare to the metalcloak overlines. The jeep looks like it has wings with the regular tube fenders.

I have to admit I'm not a big fan of the arched but I really like the overline.

jimmyzzer, those are some great pics! Very nice looking Jeeps. Those overlines look really great in body color.

And I think you just convinced me to get a set of proper half doors. I have the Bestop soft doors, but it's not the same thing.

Thought it was time to update the Clearance Diagram thread... we've developed new graphics on our website detailing in great detail the CLEARance advantage with MetalCloak fenders.

From the OVERLINE web page...

Clearance is not just about what is ABOVE your tire, it is also what is BEHIND your tire.
And compared to other typical tube fenders, we can't be beat:

• 2" ABOVE tire vs. ALL other Tube Fenders
• 5" BEHIND tire vs. Typical Flat Fenders

• 4.5" ABOVE tire vs. Stock Fenders
• 6.5" BEHIND tire vs. Stock Fenders

By giving you a replacment battery tray MetalCloak gives you more room behind the tire,
so unlike typical tube fenders, you don't rub on a simple turn.

MetalCloak is also the leader in a relatively new concept, Object Deflection Angle. The design of most Tube Fenders have no Object Deflection Angle...

A 15° Object Deflection Angle

More information and diagrams for this and most of our other products can be found on the new MetalCloak website.

Great diagrams but nothing like bashing these fenders on a weekly basis and nothing but a tiny bit of touch up paint here and there to keep them looking great. Love this system. I can't wait to see your rear bumper for the TJ....

Sorry, but the JK product development got more and more exciting and the rear bumper was put on the back burner. Funny how engineers do that...
