Ahhh, yes... the not so secret rumor mill has been busy... but here it is... the New Aluminum Base for our Frame-Built Bumper System!

But wait, you say... that looks just like your Hot Rolled Steel base! And you would be right... the same 2.0 mil black textured powdercoat protects this incredible and rugged aluminum bumper base.

Made of 5052-H38 Aluminum, this bumper has, in some respects, greater strength then our own Steel base. How? As our own engineer, Jeepineer, specifies:
Quote:
Jeepineer: Hot rolled steel plate A36 has a yield strength of 34,000-36,000psi dependent upon vendor. Aluminum 5052-H38 has a yield strength of 38,000-40,000psi dependent upon vendor.
When we started the Frame-Built concept, we knew Aluminum was in the future which is why we started with aluminum shackle mounts and fairleads.

Our first Aluminum bumper to hit the market... Dendrophobe's build which you can see here and follow in this thread: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/metalcloak-bumper-review-933944/?highlight=metalcloak+bumper

How much lighter is it? Comparing these two builds...

The Hot Rolled Steel version comes in at 40 lbs and the Aluminum is only 23! Which is which? You tell me!

Try your hand at an aluminum build... BYOB! MetalCloak, home of the Arched Jeep TJ / LJ / YJ Tube Fender.

^^^ Very cool.

I can see alot of customers coming your way due to the amount of options and customization you offer that is not available with another big aluminum product company here on the forum.

Good luck with the new product.

An update to my build mentioned above... The aluminum bumper base is great; light and strong, and has stood up to several bouts of winching so far. The crawler caps are steel, and with good reason. This past weekend I was bashing them on rocks, and aside from scraping off the paint, they were pretty much unharmed! I also installed Metalcloak's new light bar, which works great with my Lightforce lights. I couldn't be happier with this setup; fully customizable, strong, and very light!

Turned out to be a nice build! We are getting lots of great comments about the Dendrophobe build.

Just got mine installed. They were perhaps the easiest company to deal with I have ever come across. Great price and a great product.

Since this picture, the lights have been replaced with newer ones, the swaybar is covered and the license plate has been fixed. (This wouldnt have happened without Dendrophobe, Thanks again Doug!)

Thanks, I am getting ready to put your rocker system with steps on this weekend. I Love the bumper. The whole thing only weighs 49lbs, well not counting the winch. It took some pretty hard knocks in Moab last month and did great. I can't even begin to tell you how many people at EJS asked about the bumper, fenders, and flares.
