The extra grommets are because I used an existing tarp. For the top I had to cut one side and grommet it. The sides are two cuts, with only two extra grommets inserted. You still get plenty of air inside, it just cuts down on the amount whipping the girls in the back. Spiderweb, or someone, could use new material and only add the grommets, straps, needed. I think a lot of the straps one person mentioned belong to the hand straps, cargo nets... . There are 6 bungees in front and six in the rear. The full coverage to the top of the seat is not even noticeable in the rear view. If you dont want it go the whole way down jsut fold it up and you have some inside top storagein the rear. This is ok for me, but if I was paying obviously I would want it better; thats were spiderweb's Co comes in, custom cut with straps and sewn reinforced edges.

Good work CaseyJames, somehow i missed that you made this yourself and it is not affiliated with spiderweb! That explains the extra grommets.

I really don't care about being able to put the factory top over this top, it doesn't rain in So Cal during summer so it's not a priority. But looks, fit and finish are a very high priority for me, it can't look like I put a dog kennel tarp on my roof.

Just look how nice this fits -
That's a great looking top indeed. But for me, if I have to use a header bar, I'd rather just put up my safari and keep out a possible afternoon Florida shower. The points I highlighted above are exactly why I like this top. I can run "topless" yet still have shade, and pop up my soft top for those afternoon showers.

Different strokes...

OK, pulled the trigger on the VDP Koolbreez since the Spiderweb is taking too long. I'll post picks when I get it, probably in a week.

What was the total cost? I'm assuming you had to also get a windhshield channnel...

It's $39 for the VDP Koolbreez and $29 for the Best Top header (no drill kind). Got it at Quadratec. Shipping was about $12, don't remember exactly but no sales tax. That was for front seat coverage, the full size top was $10 more but I like the clean look of just the front and we rarely have rear passengers. Also, while the header is annoying to put and take off, it does give the cleanest look.

technically they are available for sale. take a look at the website.

spider, are these the final models or is there more to come? I just wanna know if we are supposed to continue to help make improvements or if you guys are gonna leave it as it is.

I'm just really confused. It seems like 1 minute you're updating it and the next it's for sale again.

Good work. I'd still consider black grommets and removing the rear grommet for the future.

Technically they are "coming soon" as opposed to my Koolbreez which is "coming now".

I think I might be going with the Koolbreeze myself... don't want to buy a bikini top in mid November.

duster config

looking at the pics it looks like the sw3 could be used in what wind version and the 3rd piece could be lowered to cover the cargo area, or am i just missing something there? I like the what wind set up but wouldnt be able to access the storage area in the back while running but if i could cover it so nothing blows out then it may be worth the inconvenience. let me know what you think.

are these the same dog kennel tarps you can buy at tractor supply for pretty much 1/3rd the cost?

i remember there was a BIG thread on this a few months back.

edit: found it, scroll down and read through the page
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/mesh-windjammer-548404/index3.html

while i dont doubt Spiderweb makes a great packaged product, this is for any of you starving college kids like me who would like to save as much money as possible. I get sick of ramen noodles for dinner everyday!
