Stop with so many brass grommets, they look ugly and they will tarnish and those bungies, wow, can it get any uglier. Sew in some black velcro, much cleaner looking, wont cut into the foam on the roll cage, won't stretch out over time like the ball bungees, won't tarnish, don't stand out like shiny brass and lay flat and clean looking. I'll pay extra for Velcro, make that the premium option. Also, don't get Velcro from a hardware store, get high quality Velcro that will work a year later. If you don't like Velcro, fine, use straps with black cinch locks or ladder locks, just NO METAL GROMMETS.

I actually think a black plastic grommet would be great. For this application plastic would have more than enough strength and would look great.

I am glad to hear that an extra grommet is being considered. I agree that a black grommet would look much better and have considered painting mine as the unused rear grommet annoys me. I would be concerned about using velcro. I use velcro straps to keep my rear seatbelts from flapping. After a few months of exposure to dust the velcro hardly works anymore. Just something to consider Chris.

OK, if Vecro is a bad idea, then sewn in straps with plastic (or black metal) ladder cinch locks like the ones below. They would never stretch out or deteriote like bungees, lay flat so you don't have these balls sticking out and the 1" width of fabric around the foam cover on the roll cage would not get pinched as bad.

If the velcro isn't opened and closed all the time it will never wear out.

Velcro would work alright. Look at the windows on our jeeps. If DC thought it's good enough, then IMO, it would work well.

So is that the final result for SW3, or are you still working on things?

Funny thing... I just ordered one of these last weekend (saw it on www.allthingsjeep.com) and wanted one! It just arrived yesterday, so I plan on taking off my TJ's hardtop this weekend and trying it out. Looks awesome!

I'm confused...

I thought the SW-1 and SW-3 were 3-piece sets, while the SW-2 is one longer piece. You just posted pictures of what you call an upgraded SW-1...and it is one piece? I thought everyone had been waiting for the 3 piece SW-3, which is basically an upgraded SW-1.... So what am I looking at here? Did you mean to say "...check out the upgrades to the SW2 based on your input"...? I know I've been waiting for the 3-piece SW-3 for a while now like so many others...hopefully this isn't it!

Thanks.

I still think the useless rear grommet should be gone.

I'm very interested in this product as many have stated - the thread remains alive and vibrant. Seems like a lot of folks are speaking highly of the customer service as well. However (BUT) - it seems by the most recent posted pictures - that the SW2 is being improved (1 piece) vice the highly sought after SW3 (an improved SW1 - 3 piece). Can anyone tell us with any certainty (sp?) that the SW3 (3 piece) is going to be offered/tested & any idea of when they will be available. I, like many others, are patiently (well impatiently) waiting to spend my $$$ on this product - but would love to be able to do so while it's still SUMMER.

Doesn't appear as the top's appearance is getting better so I'm going to pull the trigger on VDP's Koolbreez this weekend if nothing changes with Spiderweb. It doesn't sit right with wrinkles, it has gaps between the header and tarp, it has bright metal grommets, it has ball bungees pinching the foam on the roll cage. I really don't care about being able to put the factory top over this top, it doesn't rain in So Cal during summer so it's not a priority. But looks, fit and finish are a very high priority for me, it can't look like I put a dog kennel tarp on my roof.

Just look how nice this fits -
