Mesh vs. solid safari top

I am fixing to purchase a Bestop safari top for my 2003 TJ but and I am trying to decide between the solid fabric or the mesh. I like the rain protection of the solid but I also like the idea of being able to see through the mesh.

I was also thinking I might be able configure the mesh top as sort of a makeshift windjammer since it is see through.

Help me decide. All comments greatly appreciated.

Yeah we don't get a lot of rain where I live so that is not my main concern either.

I have the mesh. I figure I could always just use the regular soft top with all windows out and doors off for a solid safari top feel.

Rain is a concern = solid
Rain is not a concern = mesh

I just bought an '04 Rubicon and the soft top is in pristine condition, so I went for the solid bestop safari bikini for summer use... don't want to damage the regular soft top. I thought about the mesh... it's not really a problem while actually out on the trail... but our cabin up in the mountains has no garage so I wanted something that could sit outside for a few days without worry. It would be cool to be able to see through the top of the roof... like having an open feel but with some shade, but I just can't risk the rain on the dash.

If it needs to sit outside temporarily or overnight then you might want to consider the solid one... the mesh is only like $50 bucks so you could always try that first... I think they use the same header piece.

If you're running a safari top in snowy winter you're a better man than I !

Consider a cab cover. The safari doesnt keep all that much rain out...

Safari top, wrap around windjammer, and tonneau cover. Stays nice and toasty!
