Mesh inserts for grill?

Has any seen any mesh inserts to put in the grill, preferably flat black, to keep rocks and stuff from denting up the radiator? I'm looking for one that would go on the inside of the grill. Or has anyone fabbed up their own?

I have just used fiberglass home window screen in front of my radiator. I have had no dings or bad spots from rocks or huge bugs and you can't even see it is in there.

you can get whats called racing mesh at pepboys or some place that has ricer parts. you can put it behind the grille and it will keep out rocks and stuff while still being open enough to let in air. very valuable IMHO

I use expanded metal, spray painted with black rustoleum. anything else is more for looks, imo.

Not done on a TJ but this guy did it...and I think I'm next in line. Already have the gel, the zip ties, and the hold downs....just having difficulty finding the mesh I like: well actually finding ANY mesh...Home Depot here claims they were out & I've just been tooooooooooo friggin' busy to try elsewhere yet.

this thread: http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=492627

I used one of these:

http://www.omix-ada.com/productInfo.asp?itemNo=7639

Here's what it looks like on my Jeep.

When I bought it, it took so long to get here that I forgot about it. And then they ended up sending two, but only charged for one.

The extra can be had for the cost of shipping.

I tried that JK mesh setup. On a TJ, you can't take off the front grill like on a JK. I even went so far as to pull the radiator, but forgot about the AC coils between the rad and grill. Bottom line, the JK mesh mod cannot be done on a TJ.

Anything is possible... worse comes to worse you can take out the a/c condenser too.

I just got mine installed and haven't taken any pics yet. I used a bug screen (as shown on post #7 above) and instead of putting it outside or on the grille, I had it placed inside/behind the grille. I will post pics when I get the chance to take them.
