MBRP exhaust

Has anyone used the MBRP exhaust on their Jeep? I was thinking about installing this system on my Jeep since I am a dealer of MBRP products. I know they stand behind their product.....just wondering what it sounds like...anyone?

I don't suppose there happen to be any baffles in these mufflers? I only ask because apparently a muffler with baffles is required to play on the sand dunes in MI.

I really like the MBRP exhaust I have on my Ram diesel, and as such I'd kind of like to go with them for the Jeep too, but I don't want to put an exhaust on my Jeep that'll prevent me from one of my favorite off road areas though...

I'm not sure how they would be able to check that there are any baffles in the mufflers in the first place.

However, all of the diesel systems I sell are straight through designs like you say. All of the gas systems I have sold have baffles in the muffler. If they were to make a gas system with the straight through design it would be way to loud like a glass pack.

Our Jeep mufflers are all chambered designs. They have baffles so you should have no issue with being allowed in the dunes. Our gas and diesel mufflers have different designs for specific applications.

honestly as long as you have a full tail pipe (over the axle and that jazz) they arent going to bother you one bit, they have never checked me and i have been up there several times, all i had was a cheapo muffler shop straight through muffler (i have a different one now, but still straight through). The only thing you have to worry about is sound level, and i have never been checked for that either, they only really check the rails, bikes and quads. actually if i recal they just want you to have some kind of spark arrester, and i do believe your cat. would function as that (but im not 100% sure).

I would like to hear a clip as well on the 4.0. That is the entire reason I posted this thread. I do like the MBRP diesel systems I sell and install.

We have changed our server over today so the link is going to be down until later this evening. If you have any questions at all, give me a call toll free or feel free to post questions. I'd be happy to help you out.

I don't currently have any 4.0L Wrangler clips online at this time. We will be working on a few videos in the next few weeks and should have something for you guys.

I have been in the Wrangler with our system and can tell you first hand that the system is louder than stock, but not obnoxious or straight pipe sounding, but still has a really nice burble on deceleration.

All of our exhausts are fully bolt on cat backs that require no cutting or welding. Install can be done in a few hours with some basic hand tools by the average do it your-selfer.

Sounds pretty good in the vids. Thanks for finding those peewee.

MBRP - what exhaust combination would you recommend for maximum hp gains? I was thinking of doing a Borla header with a high flow cat and your cat back. Thoughts, suggestions?

Do you think this will trip a check engine light or hurt the gas mileage?

Thanks in advance.

By adding a header or exhaust, you will not see a performance gain. The only way you would benefit from a free-er flowing exhaust is if you had an aftermarket camshaft, larger displacement (stroker) or forced induction.

By adding an aftermarket header, you are going to be more susceptible to cracking. The OEM header flows plenty enough, and is a good 2-piece design, that usually wont crack.

On your 2006 you will not get a check engine light by modifying your catalytic converter. You can completely remove it if you would like, without setting a code, as it is not monitored by the computer.

Get the exhaust for sound, not possible performance gains.

Good luck!

Thanks for posting those videos! I'll have to try and get in contact with the owner and see if we can use them for future reference.

peeweeXJ, you beat me to it again...The exhaust will help with adding a little power but the 4.0L is not going to throw you back in the seat without some more significant power adders. This exhaust is a good start if you plan on doing any kind of forced induction, or if you are more looking for a nice sound and fuel economy.
