making the Warn a shorty

looking at cutting my front Warn bumper into a shorty, no point in having a full length bumper with tubes. looking for input, anyone done this, maybe some pointers. looking at cutting just outside the "W", or maybe inside the "W", then welding a metal plate on the end, then painting bumper with bedliner spray. would like to see pics if you have done it

Don't cut it. Just trade it to me for my stocker, and cut it all up

Why not just sell the warn and buy a new stubby? Save you some time and probably wouldn't cost you much at all in all honesty you might make some cash. On Quadratec the Warn runs for $228.99 brand new and if you were to get a stubby like the one LoD offers it's $149. Just another option.

Sell and buy new if you will come out in the positive.

Otherwise, chop away! If you can weld, I would section it. Cut 4-5 inches out between the tapered end and clevis mount.

i thought about selling, but by the time you add taking off the winch, plate, hoop, steering skid thats bolted to the bumper, then taking the time to install a new bumper, plus the hastle of trying to sell mine +dealing with payment+shipping. almost becomes not worth it. but I will keep that in mind.

if you have the capability of shortening it yourself (i.e. skills and
tools needed) then I say go for it. I cant imagine it being that hard
to cut it off a couple inches on each side and box it in with some
plate, then smooth it out so it blends in.

You could always sell the Warn bumper and use that money to buy a LoD front shorty bumper. It's only 150 bucks compared to other front bumpers...

I like the looks of the bumper the way it is now compared to the Photoshopped cut down pic.

lets say if i were to go that route, i would have to make sure my winch plate bolts to the new bumper, since i bought my plae used, i have no idea what number it is to see what other bumpers it would bolt to.

I've been looking for a LoD shorty like that one. Where can one be found for $150.

BEFORE AFTER I cut the ends off along the corners/seams, and then rewelded them on. Can't tell it's been chopped!
