Your nets look great! I've been working on (okay, so I only have strips of webbing cut so far -- I started last fall) a net for my trailer. Couldn't figure out how to keep the corners nice and square, I think those clips will do the trick! Thanks for the idea! As far as searing the end of webbing, if you have an old coil style stove (please don't do this on a glass top stove, your mom or SO will be verrry upset with you) you put it on high, touch the end to it, and you have successfully kept the end from fraying. I learned this back when I used to do a lot of climbing to seal ropes, webbing, etc. House needs to be well ventilated, it will stink, but it will burn off the coil style burner on high. Doesn't work with cotton webbing, but I think that is obvious.

Great work!
You can use a high wattage soldering iron to seal off those ends too. |

There is a perfectly good way to deal with the "FRAYING" ends. Like the OP and others here, I too was planning the big day of Sewing mine together. I seached it out well! I did find a little machine that "BURNS/CUTS" the webbing. It was cheap like $60 and that was when I stopped. Yah what am I going to do with it afterwards? NOW! Id sell it to the next guy!!! I just dont have time guys...So one of you go 4 it. Just search webbing, Web strap cutters? Have fun. And dont forget the pics!!!

You could buy one cheap for 20-40 used one. Make what you want then sell it will not cost anything but time....

will definatly look into doing this, will get the melting cutter thing though, I also rock climb and use a LOT of webbing. It has so many different uses, I will definatly by far pay for itself. Nice write up thanks for the idea to make my own instead of buying it.

It does look great though. Thanks, for any info. |

![]() I finished up the main portion of the top today. It takes a considerably longer time with the extra stitching for the o-rings. Came out even nicer than the windows so far! Here are some pics. 56k killers! Dont mind the dog hair. They lay on them when I'm at work for some reason. ![]() This is where I used the 2" webbing ![]() Measuring everything over and over takes a while. I'm thinking of making a type of jig next time. It'll shorten that portion up. ![]() My best friend throughout this process! A chip clip! Makes it easy when you're moving the area to be sewn back up to the table. ![]() All the o-rings sewn in. Tomorrow or this weekend I'll be finishing it up. ![]()
