so i know you can just buy some relocation brackets but....
i like the satisfaction of making things myself.
and i saved 4 bucks!!! woo gas money!!!
i took my doors off yesterday, and on the way to work got pulled over for not having side mirrors. so i made up a good story and got away with it, but to prevent further lateness to work i decided to make some after work.
what i bought:
2> $2.99 "blind spot" mirrors from Auto Zone (these are the little stick on things that old people have on there factory mirrors)
1> 5' piece of 1/8" X 3" steel
1> 5' piece of 3/8" steel rod
2> 3/8" bolt with some nyloc nuts
so i cut the rod into 7 inch lengths and heated it and bent it at about 45*
then i cut the steel in to 2 4.5" piece's and the i lined them up how i wanted and welded em up.
i welded the bolt to the other end of the rod so i could attach it to the door hinge.
when i welded the plate to the rod i angled it back a little so it would be a little more driver friendly.
HINT: use a "blind spot" mirror so you dont have to worry about adjustment so much. because they are a bit fish eyed.
i ended up mounting them with some 3M exterior double sided tape. i opted not to used the tape that came with the mirror cause it looked crappy. and it said made in Taiwan lol.
so here it is all mounted up. i know its crooked but i just didn't care ill pull it off to prime and paint it at home and remount it straight.
hope this helps some people out.
