Lurker turned owner, again and finally!
Well, I just wanted to introduce myself as I just acquired a brand new '06 Golden Eagle TJ, in black. So far I am lovin' the thing. It is everything I wanted and then some. First a little backstory. My dad is a Jeep guy from way back and had one of the original Golden Eagle CJ7's back in the day, so I don't want to hear anything about the graphics. I like 'em and I am making the payments. I bought my first Wrangler from my dad in 1998, it was a '93 YJ, and I was bitten by the Jeep bug immediately. I proceeded to lift it, re-gear it and throw some 33" Mud Terrains on it, along with many other mods along the way. It served me well, and I had much fun with it in the roughly 120,000 miles I put on it. About two years ago, I decided to get out of Jeeps and bought myself a brand spankin' new F150 FX4, fully loaded, and sold my YJ. Bad decision, it was a nice truck but it was way too...civilized, I guess. I never really liked the truck and had many problems with it. I had it back to the dealer for some nasty vibrations and 4WD problems like ten times. Yep that's right, coming out of YJ with 4" lift and 33" Mud Terrains, and I was complaining of vibration, it was truly that bad.
Anyway, I digress. I searched all over looking for an '06 with a 4.0L, 6-Speed, and a D44 rear. There are not too many of them around these days. I was looking at a 65th Anniversary X model, but the dealer wanted top dollar and would not come down. I found a couple of Rubi's out there, but I don't need the 4:1 low, as there is not much rock-crawling where I live, it's all sand and wheel speed is better in sand than super low. Also, I think I would rather have Ox-lockers, although I do wish I had the D44 front. I really started to think seriously about waiting a year and buying an '07 or '08, but I really, really wanted a 4.0L. I found this GE and called them about it. It seems that they had already gone and lifted this one (Teraflex 2" BB) and threw on some 32"x11.5 BFG AT's. Hmmm, that's cool? They also threw the full Mopar tube bumpers/side steps/lightbar treatment at it. Not my first choice, but still pretty cool. Top it all off with a great price, decent trade-in on my truck, killer financing, and voila I am now with Jeep again!!! Heck the base price I paid was 2G lower than the 65th Ann. X model I was intent on buying, while the MSRP was $500 more. This Wrangler is in addition to a 1990 XJ that I have put about 45,000 miles on (it has 218,000 total). I will probably sell the Cherokee now though as the TJ is already the only thing I want to drive anyway. By the way, how can I add pics straight from my hard drive?

Congrats on the 06. You have to upload your pics to a website such as photobucket. then you can post them if you have more than 50 posts to your id. Until you have 50 posts you can still post the pics but they show up as a link instead of a picture.
