Lunchbox locker, or limited slip in fron D30

I've got a 2000 TJ Sahara with a rear dana 44 with factory limited slip. I run 31's and 3.73 gears.

I want to add some traction to the front, but need a little advice. I care about road manners, this is why I like the limited slip in the rear (i've had a powertrax no-slip, and didnt like the extra backlash)

I have heard, that because your never (usually) in 4wd on the pavement, that a lunchbox up front is barely noticiable. Also, the extra backlash isnt a concern because i'll just be using when I wheel.

I can get a dana 30 vari-lock (like what comes in 00 and up grand cherokee's with limited slip) for the same price of an aussie locker for the front. Advantages for this are that it wont lock up, shouldent effect my steering any when wheeling, and should be really good in the snow.

I live in Utah and do have to deal with snow in the winter, also alot of my wheeling is in the mountains around here with dirt, sand etc... but Moab is where I really love to go, and is where I like to focus my mods for.

What do you think?

I went with the lockright up front and I can hear a couple of clicks when I ve got it at full turn on pavement.......otherwise I NEVER notice it. It has worked flawlessly on the trail, but there is a learning curve on the trail.....couple times out and you will be good. Takes a short while to get used to the xtra traction with the steering.

Oh yeah just got back from snowboarding at Park City.....AMAZING snow

You wont even notice a lockrite upfront in 2wd because they only lock when tq is applied to the front axle which none is in 2wd, 4wd provides full lock which is way better offroad if you get into lifted wheel situation where a lsd would provide no traction at all I say go with the locker

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

A limited slip is a waste of gear lube.
