Lubricating RE heim joint

How do I lubricate or otherwise maintain the heim joint of the RE 1600 adjustable track bar?

After a day on the trail I usually develop a popping sound from the heim joint on my RE 1600. What I do is hit it with WD40 to help clean the mud and gunk off. THEN I hit it with White Lithium Grease in a spray can. That does the trick everytime .

i use chain wax available from any motorcycle shop. supposedly sticks better on "warmed" parts (ie motorcycle chains), but it's still sticky as heck, so it stays put and it lubes.

Yeah the 1600 heims are not greasable (internally) so they only thing you can do is spray them. I would hose mine down too with WD-40 then use lithium grease.

Just make sure to NOT just use WD-40 which will rinse any remaining lube out and then evaporate in a few days leaving nothing.

They don't need lubed, and spraying any kind of oil or grease on them will attract dirt and cause them to wear sooner. Either ignore them, or wipe them off by hand. If you feel you must lube, use silicone spray to hose them off. The residue is dry and won't hold dirt.
