Back on track. This shock project is F'n killing me!!!

I am still waiting on my shocks to come in that I ordered from Sam's Offroad.... Tomorrow will be almost three weeks and still nothing but crickets..... I was hoping to at least get this tackeled this weekend but it's not looking good for the home team. Should be well worth it when I finish though.

Ok, don't know if you have ever heard of this trick but I just learned about it from a friend and am amazed at how well this works. I thought you might find it useful.

After the ride last weekend the under body was covered in mud. I stopped at the car wash and pressure washed it pretty good but that does not get it really clean. To give it that new look I drove it up on ramps so I could get underneath with extra room to move around and sprayed everything, I mean everything, with a good coating of this stuff.

You will need 3 - 4 cans of this stuff and I sprayed everything that was below the red body paint, tires and wheels inside and out and every piece of suspension, brake, frame, everything front to rear. Let this stuff sit for an hour or two and eat away at the dirt then hit it with a pressure washer and it will look like new with a nice light shine to everything. That dull mud look that stays inside and out on your tires will go away as well. I will also start spraying everything under body down with this stuff before muddy rides to give it a protective layer that will help keep the mud from sticking as well and make it easier to get clean after a ride.

I would think any tire foam cleaner will work for this and use the cheapest stuff you can find as you need a few cans. It is the foam that is the key. It just sits there and eats away at the dirt. You can see it penetrating and eating away at it as it sits. I got this from O'Rielly Auto Parts but you can find this kind of stuff anywhere. Just make sure it is the Foam stuff and not just tire shine spray.

Awesome Jeep!!! But your quote "You never see a jeep parked outside of a psychiatrist's office" is not entirely accurate. My wife is a Psychiatrist and she drives our Jeep.

Well have had the jeep down for about a week and a half and not finished yet. I have decided to tackle numerous things while working on this project. One of those while you have it down this far kind of deal.....

These finally came in so time to tear the suspension apart.

This is what I started with.

Will be glad when I get this one finished and should look much better under there. I am stripping all the parts I take off and refinishing them while I have them off. Found out what kind of tie rod bar i have under there as well as the track bar.

Oh, and a little early happy father's day to me....

Finally opened this up this weekend and tackled a few welding jobs I needed to do under there while it was down. Forgot how nice it was to work with a Miller. These things rock especially with the autoset feature in the new units.

Made a little more progress in the last couple days.

The Rubicon Express Extreme Duty adjustable front track bar was looking pretty tired so while it was off figured I would clean it up and put a Prothane bushing in before the re-install.

Before:

After:

Got the Rusty's Offroad Tie Rod refinished also and ready to go back on after a little welding I need to take care of since everything is out of the way right now.

I know, I know, doesn't do anything for the trail capability but if I have something taken down I can't put it back on without cleaning it up. It's a sickness.......

Have been working on another side project taking time from the suspension work and have it almost finished....

After the first real trail ride with the new rig I found out about a couple of things I needed to have on hand. Getting stuck in a rather embarrassing mud hole and after getting some rather good advice about airing down before a trail ride, even when riding in mud, had me looking for one of these.

So now that I have that on hand I needed the antidote for afterwards.

Spent $50 and had this setup ready to go for the next ride. Had just about everything already sitting around on hand though, thank goodness.

Started with this.

After a little die grinder work.

Put a few of these pieces together.

And some paint fumes later, ended up with this........

Gotta love CO2.

Thanks jeepguy.

and oh, BTW.

UW was founded in 1861.

LSU was founded in 1853 and got its colors from the Louisiana Fighting Tigers Infantry Battalion based out of New Orleans prior to the start of the Civil War.

So I guess they really belong to us, but that's ok we'll let you borrow them since they look so good together........

And you're not in the SEC......

I liked the finish from the Duplicolor Bedliner Rattle Can spray so I decided to refinish and clean up the front bumper.

This is what it looked like before:

Pretty worn so I stripped it down and sprayed it with about 5 coats to give it a good durable finish.
