If you take a look at the upper shock mount hole, you'll see it's a large square hole.
The Tera adapter fits up through the hole and bolts to the x-member using the factory shock bolts. you knock out the Bar pin, insert the correct shock bushing sleeve, bolt the adapter to the shock as if it were a BPE then stick it in place the same as you normally would when replacing rear shocks. the adapter requires a BL because they stick up an inch through the top of the x-member when installed.

That makes some more sense now. I was thinking that the Teraflex piece had a solid bottom and had to be mounted upside down. Too early in the morning I guess

When they are parallel, at ride height, the shock bushing will not be in any kind of a bind....

They, meaning the shock bushing, not the shock. I mis-read into it when I saw the tape measure from the lower control arm mount.

Sorry to hear about the recent issues Mudb8. Hope all turns out well for you.

Here is what i've seen on a local jeep website.

http://www.gemini-sales.com/product....&product=13955

Would something like that work for our long travel rear shocks?
I'm thinking I am bottoming out in the rear.

That only extends the mount rearward, not downward or outboard like would be needed to allow for longer travel shocks...that style shock shifter is typically used to allow for the shocks to not contact the axle in applications where the axle is rotated for sye and cv driveshaft applications. Mudb8 correct me if I'm wrong.
