loudest = no muffler no cat...also illegal ....If your flowmaster isn't cuttin it try a thrush or cherry bomb glass pack...still not loud enough just run straight pipes

A friend of mine has straight pipes after the cats on his 99 6cyl, sounds pretty good I think. We just hack sawed the exhaust off one day, but it was way too loud so that's when he did the pipe.

I temporarily ran with no muffler on my XJ for about a week while I was waiting for the new one to arrive. It was loud and the drone on the high way was annoying.

Jordan has the correct idea on a Thrush or glass pack muffler.

Just curious why you want a loud exhaust? I have a Harley and run the loudest exhaust I can for safety purposes...I figure if they don't see me, maybe they will hear me. But why on a Jeep? Maybe I'm just not understanding the coolness factor here...lol...

We never hear the exhaust. We only hear the screaming of the rider getting crushed after they were hit by staying in blind spots.

Normally I see the loud exhaust on show vehicles around this town.

I am running a dual chamber Flowmaster and Hedman header turned down right after the muffler, and it sounds amazing, decently loud and a nice deep rumble plus added quite a bit of power.

I don't believe glasspacks are legal for us in National Forests, because they don't satisy "spark arrestor" laws.

If your running a flowmaster 40 and its not loud enough, Gut the cat or take it off. Thats the only way your going to get anymore sound. Gutting its about the easiest, Take it off and pound out the guts. I haven't had any CEL and have had it this way on one of my TJs for years.

I ran a 2000 wj for about 2 years with no muffler and the cat right infront of muf. It still had the two cats on the downtubes. I had a turndown at first, but it was a little loud for me so i put the tailpipe back on. It was a little louder than a flowmaster but had a nice rumble. That would be the cheapest solution to try first. You could always put the flowmaster back on if you did'nt like it.

I was talking to a muffler shop guy the other day and he said that they quite often drill out the insides of the cat so its basically straight pipe and then put it back on. This shld make your exhaust sound louder and still keep the appearance of being legal
