Loose feeling steering

Ever since I bought our TJ six months ago, the steering has felt loose to me. I've read everything I could on the subject and have had two reputable shops check it out, as well as twice myself. Everything checks out as being perfect.

When I was driving it yesterday, it dawned on me that it doesn't so much feel loose, but more like "light", like when I used to tow boats with too much tongue weight with my old FJ40 Landcruiser. From what I can see, the Pro Comp lift that the PO had put on didn't have the option of 4cyl. or 6cyl. applications and the rig does sit about 3/4" higher in the front.

So here's what I'm wondering. Would a combination of front springs rated for a 6cyl. instead of the 4cyl., combined with a hardtop, tire carrier bumper and 33x12.50 tire and wheel hanging on the back be enough to give me that light feeling in the front? I'm really tempted to strap a 90lb. bag of concrete on the front and drive it around to test my theory.

hey man. your theory may make sense. but i defintly know what your saying and i have it too. do u have stock steering? and plus its a lifted jeep and usuaslly whenever u lift a jeep even if it has a drop pitman arm... with bigger tires and the lifted geometry im pretty sure its just gunna happen one way or another. is it feel like it has play? where its almost a dead spot?
