Ever since I bought our TJ six months ago, the steering has felt loose to me. I've read everything I could on the subject and have had two reputable shops check it out, as well as twice myself. Everything checks out as being perfect.
When I was driving it yesterday, it dawned on me that it doesn't so much feel loose, but more like "light", like when I used to tow boats with too much tongue weight with my old FJ40 Landcruiser. From what I can see, the Pro Comp lift that the PO had put on didn't have the option of 4cyl. or 6cyl. applications and the rig does sit about 3/4" higher in the front.
So here's what I'm wondering. Would a combination of front springs rated for a 6cyl. instead of the 4cyl., combined with a hardtop, tire carrier bumper and 33x12.50 tire and wheel hanging on the back be enough to give me that light feeling in the front? I'm really tempted to strap a 90lb. bag of concrete on the front and drive it around to test my theory.
