looking at an Apex Edition ... some q?

A local guy is selling his TJ Apex ... before hassling him with more questions, I thought I'd ask the forums what exactly I should expect under the hood.

It's a 2k2, inline 6 manual, also has a RE3.5 and Pro Comp 33x12.5 on black steelies.

I can't find much on the Apex other than chrome rims, a sticker on the hood and 7 speaker sound system. And some funky leatherette seats or something.

The guy says it's a D35, doesn't know if it's a LS or not ... now go all ahead and say those 33" are going to break any D35 just by starting the engine ...

Here's the beast ... I don't think I can flex those rubbers all the way, can I? Me thinks they're gonna rub the fenders quite quickly ...

Thanks

A 1" body lift would set that Jeep off nice.

A 1" coil spacer up front would level it off and give plenty enough room to flex it out without a BL. They're only 33s and it's already got 3.5" of spring lift.

True, but I would still install the 1" body lift.

That's fine, it's not needed but some people like more lift for no reason.

As far as i can find the Apex edition was just the beefed up stereo and the sticker, and the rims he lost a long time ago. I can't even find a good pic of the sticker !

Looks nice, I would buy it for the right price. I still have 33's and a dana 35c as long as you remember that you'll live to tell about it.

He actually still has the original rims and suspension that come with the rig.

Had it been red or silver I wouldn't be hesitating so much ...but black

Everything that you have listed is what makes up an Apex Ed. Nothing really special about this Edition, basically all cosmetic.

I was hoping hard for a D44 ... I'm fearing those big tires will destroy the D35 in a second.

Apex owners, is the sound system really good? I'd like that ...

At 75 MPH with the top and doors off, no sound system is really good.

I'm no audiophile, but it sounds fine to me. It's the same 7-speaker system that you can get in any other TJ, though - it is not special to the Apex.

You forgot windshield down too

It's the same as any TJ? The ones I test drove had a really awful sound ... and I didn't count 7 speakers ... meh, I'll check it out anyways.

So basically the axles are the same, the sound system is the same ... it gets chrome rims (that have been replaced with steelies) ... so all I'd get extra is a hood decal? ROFL!
