Looking for a 3rd brake light that's mounted within the spare tire carrier
Hey all, not a Jeep owner (sorry, I'm a truck guy) but my girlfriend has a Wrangler TJ that she loves and wheels the hell out of. She wants a 3rd brake light that mounts within the spare tire carrier and I can't find it for the life of me (other than eBay crap).
Can anyone point me in the right direction to a quality kit that puts your third brake light within the hole of your spare tire?
does she want one for a lug hole or where the center cap would go? I'd post links but I'm on my itouch. Or you could look up an oro platelite with the relocation bracket pricier and probably not what you're looking for but just an idea.
Either check quadratec, or you can rig one together from your local napa or autoparts store. All you need is a light (2 inch maybe?) and some extra wire. I just wired one up myself, for a total of about five dollars. If you need pictures, PM me, and I'll snap some in the morning.
Send a pm to "Besrk" here on JeepForum. He has some nice ones that mount in the center hole of your spare. They are an option you can purchase with his bumper/tire carrier that he sells. I would have to think he would sell you one of these.
Delta sells a setup - LED's which'll last forever & rubber grommet encased bulbs. It also has quick disconnects for easy removal & reinstall.
Only problem was the disconnects were a tad too big to fit thru the lug holes - hadda shave a bit.
Will upload night pics later.

Or, head down to your local motorcycle shop and look for a "fender eliminator" license mount, some shops sell just the light, has a brake, running and license plate light, available in incandescent or LED
If you go to Napa and get a small round red trailer light about 2 1/2 inches (I think) you can mount it in the center of the wheel hub right on the factory mount. Splice the factory wires into the new light and use some sheet metal screws to hold it on after drilling a hole. It cost me about $4 to make it and 15 minutes to mount it. I will post a picture later of the one I did when i get home.
