Long Time Lurker... now JEEP OWNER!

YO!

Picking her up on Saturday in Youngstown, OHIO. Then making the drive to Baltimore. I wanted to say thanks for all the information you guys have provided when making my purchase.
I decided on a Bright Silver 2004 Jeep Wrangler X - Rocky Mountain Edition.

List of upcoming mods, in order:
  • Cruise Control
  • TJ Theft Protection ADE/ADE-II w/Light Chaos
  • Aftermarket 'Convience group' solution
    • Full-Center Floor Console (Most important)
    • Interior Underhood Lighting (what the heck is this?)
    • Interior Courtesy Lamp (pretty important)
  • Secure Storage solution (add-a-trunk or tuffy product)
  • Hard top
  • Stealth Audio Upgrade (thanks for the idea SirGCal)

Any suggestions on saving money on these mods? anyone document these mods?

Thanks again guys

JT

Interior Underhood Lighting is just a light under the hood for working on the engine.

To save money with all of these mods, do not but from Mopar. You probably know there are plenty of websites around. When I bought my TJ, the dealership wanted to charge $400 for an Add a trunk, I said hell no and bought mine off of http://www.quadratec.com for $125 and installed myself. Be smart, be wise, and your wallet will be thick.

Good luck!

I also found the add a trunk on www.jeepsareus.com - $125
any of you guys with the add-a-trunk want to chime in on how easy it would be to break into one?

I'll second the www.jeepsareus.com recommendation for factory stuff. They usually have a pretty good selection of OEM items for much cheaper than you can get them from the dealer.

My add-a-trunk from the dealer was 160CDN...

It's not the most secure thing in the world but it's not bad. If they want in they WILL get in. But for the most part im sure people would pass on trying to break in.

Unfortunately one can't have it both ways...if you want a thick wallet, walk everywhere. Having a jeep wrangler will reduce your wallet to three things, an empty, well used credit card (or maxxed depending on how you look at it), your driver's license and an insurance card...that's it.
My Dad once told me when I told him that when I grew up I wanted to be a musician...He said "son, you can't have it both ways". So I decided on the musician thing and still haven't grown up...my jeep is just a bigger toy than my Tonka trucks were that I had as a kid...All this to say that we can't always have our cake and eat it too.
Whatever's left over after buying all your tricks for the jeep, you spend on gas.

I Love It!!!

Welcome to the club!

The first mods you want to make, when money is available, is a suspension lift and new tires/wheels, but until then, you may have money in your wallet and will not start the eventual avalanche of nifty Jeep mods to install in your garage!
