lockrite engaging/disengaging

Well we got a bunch of snow up here today and I was driving around in 4hi. I've got a lockrite locker up front and all was fine on the snowcovered roads. But I drove a short distance on a plowed road that wasn't slick and while in 4wd when I was on the gas I was being pulled to the right, and whenever I let off the gas to switch gears or brake, the locker would disengage and I'd jerk to the left, then when I got into the next gear and hit the gas it would jerk to the right again. Anyone else have experience like this with the lockrite. I also notice it while in 4lo on trails that whenever I push in the clutch, the lockrite disengages and snaps very loudly. Just wondering if these kinds of things are normal.

Sounds like it needs new springs and pins.

The thing's only 6 months old, but the shop had a lot of trouble getting it in in the first place. The first time they installed it they couldn't get it to disengage. Related maybe???

No, that is completely normal. you shouldnt be in 4 hi on dry pavement with a locker in front. The locker is designed to disengage when power is not being applied to it i.e you pushing in the clutch.....

thanks, that's what I was wondering about. I'm not worried about it on the street, this was the first time I'd been on pavement w/it engaged. But it always freaked me out on the trail and I was wondering if this behavior on the pavement could be a symptom of something.
