locked up rear end , extremely weird! help

ok so i got my project tj that i got about a month ago on the road today,
I repalced the entire front axle and the transfer case, since the front axle housing was bent and the tc was cracked also new control arms, anyways we took it for a spin this afternoon and it felt great but later tonite my friend was driving it behind me and he called me that the wheels locked up on him wile driving, turned around and he was pulled on the side of the road started the car again and it was fine, he said that the wheels locked up completely while driving about 35 mph but didnt know if it was the front or the rear, got on the jeep my self and started driving, everything felt fine but could hear a kinda humming sound coming from under the jeep, drove for about 5 minutes and the sound got louder and louder till i could feel the rear end getting stiffer and stiffer but pulled up before it locked, let it stand for a few minutes and it would drive again but you could feel it locking, drove till it locked completely, stopped again put it neutral including the tc and tried to roll it in reverse and it did, moved a lil, i couldnt feel any vibes coming from the stickshift or the tc lever, anyways got it moving again and drove the remaining 2 miles home under 30mph, drove fine but could hear that humming sound kinda like bearings or something , is it brakes or the rear end , or tc , what do you guys think ??
