LJ Sunider Soft top help (to answer a question in the LJ picture thread)
Several people asked how I folded my soft top down so neatly so here is a picture essay for those that want it to fold neater.
Step 1 open sunrider portion and fold it back neatly ![]() step 2 remove windows ![]() Step 3 fold up rear portion of top and fold it neatly towards center ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 4 pull sunrider soft top pins to release top. ![]() Step 5 begin to pull top rearwards folding edges towads center as the loose material comes down. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 6 pull next bow down on top of preious material while folding the edges of the material towards the center. Also begin to fold the next sections side material towards the center of the jeep ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 7 pull the bow for the last section down over the previous material as you neatly push the side material towards the center. You end up with the sunrider portion folded neatly over the rest of the material. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Step 8 take folded sunrider section and tuck it between the soft top and the jeeps sheet metal.
![]() ![]() at this point you can straighten out the side bars of the top so they lay a little flatter than in previous picture and close the sunrider latches if you want, I leave them open so the bar is flexible. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now take your doors off put on some sort of side mirror where required by law and get some time behind the wheel ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

A friend of mine has a hard top TJ that is 7 years old that has never had the hard top removed. (at least he has no leaks due to it being removed and replaced on the vehicle.

Thanks great thread. I've had my LJ top up and down many times but I sure learned a few tips from you here. Thanks again!

That looks slick. I hate taking the top down cause it looks like a pile of canvas crap. Ill have to try your method.

Thanks for the PM on this thread.
I'm generally fed up by the time the sunrider starts to fold into the bed. Starting with it folded nicely looks like the hot ticket. I've gotten to where I just remove the 2 screw and remove the whole damn thing at once. |

Are you talking about the plastic lips on the bottom of the cloth, if so yes I do. If you are talking about something around the inside portion of the upper corners that I have never seen that.
