Lights out behind gauges

Hey how's it going. I have a 97 wrangler and last night the lights behind the gauges went out. When starting the jeep the check engine and all other warning lights come on but no backlight. The dome light and radio are fine. Any advice on what's going on? Thanks

Have you checked the fuse?
If you're offended by the opinions I express here, then you really don't want to hear the ones I keep to myself.

If not the fuse, I would check the dimmer.

I drive on the right side, what's wrong with you?

Be very careful with the wife mod. Uninstallation can be extremely expensive. Wife mods have been known to take the Jeep and all other mods during the uninstall process. Also, make sure you service your wife mod properly as often as humanly possible. Wife mods not properly serviced may malfunction or uninstall themselves at any time.

First, check the dimmer isn't turned all the way down as already suggested.
Do the marker lights work?
If they don't, and one of them has failed and taken the fuse with it (#1 behind the glove box), you will loose the cluster and dash illumination.
If the marker lights are good and dimmer turned up, but still no dash/cluster illumination check fuse 12 behind the glove box.

See if that gets you anywhere and report back.

If it doesn't work properly, look for the service manual link at the bottom of the page.
