Lifts to avoid?

I'm looking at trading in my blazer for a Jeep. I live in MA and lift laws suck, so I'm wondering which lifts are the best, and if anything, which lifts are AVOID AT ALL COSTS?
The lifts should be in the 2" to 4" range to get past inspection.

ThanX!

I bought the Rusty's 2 inch lift! It comes with 4 new springs and shocks! So far I love it! I can't wait to get the bigger tires on again now that the snow is gone for good (at least for a couple of months)... I have also read the the REBB are great lifts, but that comes with spring spacers and new shocks. I wanted to get all new springs and shocks, that's why I went with Rusty's! Good luck with your decision!

Get a simple BB kit and a BL for a total of 3" and call it good.

I'm new to this suspension setup, but the RE has long arm kits. The purpose I'm guessing is more articulation, but how much more than there standard 3.5" kit, and is that the only benefit?

I wouldn't want a BL, but I'd probably do the BB kit if I could get a 3.5" lift past inspection.

the way i understand it from reading threads on this forum is that long arms relocate where the arms mount to the frame (or sometimes a tcase skid, depending on what kit you get) as a result you get a closer to stock feel w/ the suspension b/c the geometry is closer to stock. there is a diagram in one of the threads, somebody else can probably get a link to it for ya.

i've seen several threads about RE kits and a lot of them say that you get a inch or two more than what is advertised...

if you can't go above 4" for inspection a short arm kit would most likely work just fine

and VERY few people will have any good things to say about Fabtech lifts for jeeps, aparently they are good for full size trucks but not jeeps

I wouldn't go Sky Jacker. I have it and wish I had something else. Look for a kit that can be easily upgraded like the Rubicon express, tera flex etc...
A long arm would give you a better ride but includes more work including frame modifications etc. Supposedly if you modify the frame in any way such as welding or cutting off mounts, you will have to declare frame damage if you ever go to sell the jeep. I was waiting to damage the frame before i go with a Long arm kit. Now i have an upper control arm mount that ripped off the frame a little. we welded it up and I'm planning on the Clayton hard arm kit in a year or so, but probably longer, a lot longer.
What exactly are the lift laws in KY? tire size? over all lift height?

So which SkyJacker kit did you get? Not the RockReady version? What caused the upper control arm mount to rip off?

From what he's said before, the SkyJacker rides really rough and squeaks like crazy(correct me if I'm wrong). The RE 3.5" are known for netting about 4.5" of lift. OME also makes a good 2.5" kit, but you really can't beat BDS's warranty. http://www.bds-suspension.com/warranty.html

I know plenty of people rolling on 35s-37s with 5-7" lifts. All you need to do is befriend a mechanic and you're good to go.

Perhaps you could name a place or two if you live around the Seekonk Rehoboth area, or anywhere close to 30 miles of that.
