i hate to say it man but i just spent a few days fighting the 3 rear upper shock bolts that snapped off while replacing my shocks. tried easy outs, tried drilling. ended up dropping the tank to get access and just get a sharp chisel and a 3lb. and get whacking. the metal right there is 2 layered so theres still something to put your new hardware on but just cut the weld with the chisel. and if your rusty on the bottom plan on new carrage bolts for the tank as i ended up replacing half of those too.

The search function was helpful. Found more about drilling & removing the stubborn weld-nuts. But my sig doesn't have any links to deal with this problem, so its not going to help.

see here:

To do it again, I wouldn't do the adjustable front track bar. I'd weld on a reinforcement for the stock track bar & redrill the hole. My JKS track bar hits the Riddler diff cover pretty bad.

Oh, and the shock mount drilling was ultimately successful. 3-in-1 oil and a 1/16" drill bit that was at least 70 years old did the trick. Bored through the 10.9 steel like plastic! Once the pilot hole was in, the cobalt steel bit worked great at removing the rest of the hard steel.
