I did this on my 98, I ended up frying the two that went into the temp. control panel. I bought the 3 LED bulbs and the metal in the twist lock touched the circuits on the bulbs. I ended up getting 2 more 74's that has the single LED and all is good now. There is a little difference in the brightness levels but I can deal with that.

put them in today and the ones in the gauges r fine but the ones in the heat slider fried right away just watched them smoke and then swore. SO ANYONE OUT THERE DO NOT BUY THE HIGH POWER LED'S WITH 3 LED'S ON THEM. just stick with the cheaper ones.

I talked to them on the phone for 45 minutes trying to figure out my issue. It simply boiled down to the circuit board sitting too low and touching the metal in the twist lock connector. The 1 LED bulbs work perfect though but not as bright.

I also have a '97 and wanted to confirm you needed:

(5) 74's for the gauge Cluster
(2) 74's for the heat and ac (Think this is different on newer TJ's)

I also didn't see a reply for the Lower Buttons (over drive, defog, ect) but believe they are:
two bulbs per switch:
size: one t3 and one t4 (Several listed... what base and/or P/N should I get???)

Also, does the dimmer work with LED's or are you fixed to one level of brightness?

Thank you in advance...

I'll update my own post for any who find this via search. For the '97 you'll need:
(5) 3LED 74's for the gauge Cluster
(2) 3LED 74's for the heat and ac (It is different on newer TJ's)
(3) NEO4 4mm lights for the switched
(2) NEO3 3mm for the indicator lights on the fog and defrost switches - I went with Green and Amber to color match existing indicator lights
