LED Dash/Guage Light Conversion
Hey guys! I know there have been a couple of threads about LED conversions of the guage cluster and dash lights but I couldn't really find the information I needed. I drive an 06 LJ and want to convert everything to Red LEDs (including the dome lights)
Here are my questions: 1. Will I still be able to dim the lights? 2. Is every bulb needed (dome lights aside)the same size/shape? 3. Just how bright are the LEDs going to be? 4. Are the bulbs sizes given in the owners manual? (my owners manual has been hiding in the garage for the past week) 5. How much of a hassle is pulling the dash? 6. How much will replacing every bulb with an LED cost? Thanks in adnvance! I'll go ahead and say that I already know doing all red lights make it look like an "F16" and I'm fine with that so bring on the jokes! ![]()

I did the blue leds, yes you can still dim the lights. I did it 3 years ago so i don't remember if there all the same size or which type they were. Pulling out the dash is not hard. It cost like 20 bucks and yes there bright

2. Yes, use #74 IIRC. HVAC bulbs ARE a different size, but since my stereo is bluish, I didn't mess with these. 3. Bright enough, and it'll be crisp. 4. See #2. 5. Easy. Pull vent cover, pull knee panel. Remove screws holding on black bezel, then 2 holding dash. Install is reverse. 6. Not much - under $15.00.

HVAC lights are probably the easiest.
Pop the cover closest to the windshield. Take out the change drawer or ash drawer. Take the screw out behind the drawer and the two up top near the windshield. Pop off center bezel. Take four screws out of the HVAC controls. You can either unplug every line to the HVAC controls or you can take a finely tipped flat head and just untwist the black circles at the top of the HVAC box on the back. There are three. Then replace with what bulbs you want. Easy Cheesy. |
