The basically will end up looking like a little sport light shining through the lens.
nearly all vehicle marker and tail lights rely a lot on the reflector to help spread the light and fill the lens. Those LEDs simply shine their light directly at the lens and will just show a little round dot of light.
My experience has been that when trying to do LEDs in the front, especially if you already have LEDs in the rear, is they tend to act very strange, even when the correct LED style flasher is used.
Side marker LEDs are a different beast all together. See the second diagram here:

I tried LED's in my side markers and never got them to work right. After posting about them, I was told the fronts are a bridged system??? and they wouldn't work. I ended up putting my bulb lights back in. And I second about the light being focused mostly forward, straight on looking at them will blind you but from the side the light output is probally 1/3 less.
