As always, Id say upgrade while you have have to do it anyway. I just FlowKooler though and they dont have a listing for 2000 4.0, only 2.5's Im not sure of any other company that does a pump for the 4.0's.

how long did the factory one last you? The oem is fine. Upgrading is unnecessary, get a factory replacement, not a jobber type.

What will a high performance pump do for a Jeep?

Hopefully keep the temp. down like it would for any other vehicle. Are Jeeps immune to high performance parts?

Thats what I would go with but I know everyone else on here thinks its impossible to improve anything on the 4.0.

Keep the cooling system at 210 degrees F if everything is working OK....much like the factory water pump.

The last high performance water pump I helped a fellow Jeeper install left me less than impressed.
Here is a photo of the stock pump we removed....
Here is a photo of the high performance pump we installed (and it was one of the name brand pumps you see in the magazine ads).....
The company cuts a piece of sheet metal and pop rivets it onto a stock pump.....charges you a bunch more money.....and tells you that you may need multiple water pump gaskets to properly space out the pump so the rivet heads don't grind off on the engine block.
wow.....wasn't that a great investment!
