Largest tires on a stock TJ? W/O lift

Hey guys,

I'm 17 and I had my 01 TJ for 6 months and I love it. I know there's been a lot of suggestions on the largest tire size you can run on a stock TJ with no lift. I've heard 30 to 33'' depending on how much you offroad. I don't offroad and probably won't until I go to college at UConn, so what's the biggest tire you can run without too much rubbing? And if anyone got a good deal on a wheel/tire combo let me know, I'm still looking around for a low price deal.

Thanks a lot
Shane

I wouldn't want to run anything larger than 17" no matter how much lift I put on the Jeep.

Ugly is pretty to someone. You maybe? I can't see the point in the build because you will tear it up over speed bumps.I'd avoid the mall and trailer parks with large speed bumps.

Tare what up over speed bumps? if your thinking my tires rub, nope not even close.... they don't rub on 36s either.

Thanks again everyone for your help. @TheBoogieman I wish I had the tools or car smarts to do that but unfortunately I don't haha. I could deal with 31's but I've been starting to like 32's and 33's lately. Do you think I could get away with 33s without too much rubbing? I don't really care about how much flex I can get out of it because my tj is on the pavement 90% of the time. Sorry I know nothing about tires, I'm new to this

that's awesome I might commit there for football depending on if they offer me before next season. If I got any I'll let you know

So I think I'm going to go with 32s, maybe 31s, anyone know where to get a good set of wheels and tires? Im a little short on the money side and need a good deal

I'm running 31x10.5x15 BFG A/Ts with stock suspension right now and I do get some rubbing at full flex. I recently pulled my front fender flares off and discovered I’d bashed in the lip on fender where the flares bolt on right above the tire on both sides. It's not enough to worry me but I did want to warn you will rub a little.
