Larger gas tank?

Was looking around for a larger gas tank. Found a 20 gal GenRight but they seem to only make them for the YJ. Figured it may be a good thing to extend the range of the brick for highway trips.

Any thoughs? recomendations?

I know jerry cans exist... so plz dont spam me with that idea

What's the ground clearance on that unit? Do any skids fit with it?

If it's worth doing, then it's worth overdoing.

One gallon over stock isn't going to make enough difference to waste the money.

Are you talking about an aux tank to supplement your current tank or a replacement tank? If youre looking to increase your range, look at a fuel cell that goes behind the back seat and tie it into your current tank. Itll take a little routing and figuring stuff out but its doable.

oops... forgot our tanks were 19 Gal for some reason... My bad. You can tell its been a while since i filled the thing up.

Im guessing anything larger would get in the way or cause a lower clearence.

Yup.

You could always try to make your own and take advantage of the dead space in the center behind the Tcase. Id like to see someone do that. Thatd be cool but kind of pointless.

Gen-Right makes extra capacity tanks for TJs...
http://www.genright.com/category.aspx?categoryID=31

but from talking to a few people that had/have them, depending what size you get, you end up running into an issue with the fuel pump. making a deeper tank with the stock fuel pump doesn't help one bit...the pump doesn't reach the bottom of the tank...so you may have extra capacity, but you can't use it....

You could put a bigger fuel tank or cell in the tub of your Jeep! That could be one option.

Would be interesting to know which sizes that is, since the Safari tank is still on my want list...
