Key wont work

Funny thing happened to wifey's 01 TJ (automatic) all of a sudden the key won't work in the ignition. It's stranded her twice today, and with fiddling it finally started. Now it absolutely won't turn the lock cylinder. Is this a common problem? I have to leave the jeep where it is for the night and tow it home in the morning. I'll replace the lock cylinder tomorrow, providing that's the issue. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Regards
Matt

Have you tried turning the steering wheel left/right a tad or moving the shifter handle up/down a little if it's an automatic?

Oh ya. I just spent an hour farting around with it. Steering doesn't lock on this one. Screwing with the shifter does nothing. It's basically lock in park until the key turns.

I just read this thread earlier this week. Probably worth a quick look.
