K9 Presents an TJ Plot

For about 5 years now I've always had a number of gremlins causing hickups and lack of power. I've checked everything 2,000 times never solved the problem. I finally received my Xmas present today. A Palm Datalogger to connect in the OBD2 port.

I was able to plot both O2 sensors. Here's the punch-line.. The TJ computer hasn't identified them as bad, and they check ok on a multimeter. But as you can see, both are very wrong. What's worse, the jeep actually runs smoother getting this sensor input. I wonder if it's a fouling injector or something similar.

Anyways, to compare, I've attached my "Bad," and "Good" reading from another Jeep. Hope you can all see the details, enjoy!

I researched a few websites before orderings. I found these guys to be most economical as I found units going for $800 or more. I paid $225 directly from the website, although you can find them used on Ebay for $180. It also includes a 30day eval period, so for whatever reason you absolutely hate it, it can be returned without questions.

The software isn't too user friendly, and sometimes slow, and it takes some effort to make a pretty plot in Excel, there is no direct conversion. But I think that will change as the software gets improved with time. However, the results are great. The Recorder is supposed to be good for 8hrs of data on a simple m100 palm. Also, the software is free for life and always updated. Addtionally, the OBD-II translator is universal from GM-Ford-Foreign-Etc.. Other companies require you to purchase 3-4 modules to cover all makes.

Hey, why not?
