just bought this winch will it work alright for my jeep

Just picked up a winch for a couple hundred and was wondering if 5000lb winch will work for what I want. I'm only using the jeep on light trails and nothing to extreme. I wanted it incase I go off the road in the winter I could possibly pull my self out with it.
Uncle Henry's

Looking at some of the previous post it looks like these can be gone through and rebuilt pretty easy as well. That good because it looks like this one is going to need to be cleaned up.

5,000 lbs isn't enough pull, IMO.

TJ's at the very least need an 8,000 lb winch.

If you use a snatch block it will double your pulling power.

If you spent 300 dollars you got robbed, if you spent 200 you overpaid.

The Warn M8000 winches are not that expensive.

If i was stuck and had my choice between a 5,000 pound winch and no winch at all i would def take the 5,000 pound winch. If that is all you have it is better than nothing, but i think 8,000 pounds would work alot better.

Rule of thumb for a which is get a winch that is rated at twice the weight of your vehicle. Considering my TJ Sport started out at 4500lbs, I wouldn't go with anything lighter than an 8000 or 9000 lb winch. The reason for this is simple. If you are stuck, you are not just pulling the weight of the Jeep. You're pulling the Jeep THROUGH whatever you're stuck in. This can add serious weight.
A 5000lb winch would be great for a car trailer because for the most part you are moving rolling weight rather than stuck weight.

You can increse the power by using snatch blocks. But anyway you cut it I don't think that it will last very long. Sorry.
