JK springs and shocks on an LJ

So I finally got done installing this setup AND I got pics!

Basically there were people saying no lift, lots of lift blah blah blah. So before installing these I took some measurements and can report that on my 04 LJ I got around 1.5 inches in the front and 2.5 inches on the rear of lift, this was on the same spot as before the lift and measured from the ground to the bottom of the bumpers. I installed BPEs on all the shocks. Only real issue was the rear springs, I ended up having to cut off about 1.5 inches off the bottom of the spring to fit into the spring perch on the rear axle. Other than that, and putting up with getting the old shocks off it was fairly simple install. Now to the most important thing....IT RIDES AMAZING!!! What I used were the JK Rubicon Unlimited springs and the JK Sahara Unlimited shocks, if you need part numbers I can crawl under again and get them for you. I got no vibes no shakes nothing. And the bonus is the price, off ebay got all 4 springs and shocks for under $100!! Next step is to pull it all apart and install my ACOS in the front to level it up!

These were from the day I bought it:

And from today:

Just as an FYI. your results may vary. I have no winch or any heavy bumpers just the stockers.

Thanks for posting this. I had heard conflicting stories if it was possible or not and a friend sent me his Rubicon springs & shocks so I've been anxious to test it out. What BPE's did you go with?

Are you going to add spacers to the front to level it out?

I probably will end up adding them but I don't have them yet. I wanted to get the springs on to see how it looks before deciding. AEV has their front spacers on sale right now so I might go ahead and pull the trigger on them.

I'm running OME 2.5" springs on my LJ with JK Unlimited shocks as well, and it rides great. It's just a bit of a chore getting the bar pins out of the factory LJ front shocks to switch over to the JK shocks if you aren't using bar pin eliminators.

I used jks bpe's after looking at it I bought a simple 6 ton shop press. Made it so much easier. And I now installed some jks acos in the front
to now level it off. Still need to adjust them a little but its better now

OK.......so exactly what was the point of swapping out to JK springs(And then cutting them) and shocks? Im failing to see any real benefit on or off road here..........

I believe he cut some out of the bottom center so it would sit in the lower spring perch instead of replacing the spring perch.

Yeah, I understand that, but the question is what was the whole point of the whole project?

Maybe they were free take-offs, so there's that...

EDIT: Ok, maybe inexpensive

Well I gained lift and ride comfort for parts that cost me under $300 total, springs shocks bpes and acos. And gained around 2.5 inches of lift. Plus smoother ride. Not sure why you wouldn't want that.

Lol yeah yeah I know. I was rushing when I put them in. And only set them at as close as possible to start. Will have to break out the jack and spring compressors this week sometime.
