Jeep wont turn over! Please help!

2003 TJ 4 Cyl.

So like a dummy, I tried to install a remote start that I got for cheap. Didn't get far. As I was checking for the ignition wire with a multimeter, I went through a wire and into another. To my surprise, the jeep attempted to start, died and I instantly smelled a burning smell. I removed the test probe and attempted to start the jeep by turning the key. All of the dash illuminates, the radio works, I hear the selenoid trying to work but my baby won't turn over. All fuses look fine and I don't see any melted wires. Please help! Ifeel like I just shot my best friend!

I am a YJ owner and not sure I can help much, but what were the wire colors that were connected through the test probe? Did you see any smoke when you smelled it? Could be a fusible link or computer, but no way to know if we don't know what the wire function is. Burnt wire smell is never good.

I would say it sounds like your computer took a shot to the heart. Don't use a remote start. They cause wiring "Gremlins" down the line. They hide alot of problems. I trade a vehicle with a aftermarket remote start, it gets taken off right away and tossed.
