Jeep won't turn over...

Put a new battery in, still won't turn over. Light don't dim when trying to crank it.

Looking on-line it appears the solenoid and starter are one unit so I don't have to worry about one or the other? Is there any thing else that might keep it from cranking? Thanks

Show me a person who doesn't mind losing and I'll show you a loser.

If you are not getting any action check the connection at the starter. If that is all good check the voltage at the turn-on lead while someone else tries to crank it. If you get no voltage, then it's a wiring problem. If you have voltage, it's a starter problem.

It sounds like a Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) The Jeep will not run or start if it is bad. This sensor is located on top of the bell housing (transmission), usually with one bolt, it sits inside the bell housing similar to a spark plug hole except, no threads just pressed into the hole. has a 12 inch electrical connection attached, cost $35-$45 and 15 minutes to change out very easy, they go out all the time. Google the part and you will find schematics and diagrams showing exact location. New sensor comes with a small pad attached to end of sensor, make sure pad is in place before you install it. Do not go to a repair shop, save your hard earned money, very easy to change. Change this sensor out before you think there is a problem with the fuel filter or fuel pump, they almost never fail on Jeeps, usually something simple like this sensor.

If your lights are dimming with the key in the start position that means amperage is being drawn from the battery like it should be but your engine is not turning over so.....remove your starter and take it to the parts house and have them test it. It sounds like your starter is shot to me.
